The outside says Italian villa, but the inside is all opulent rocker-chic. One wouldn’t expect anything less from Slash, the Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist, and his wife, lifestyle guru Perla Hudson.
The glamorous couple has separated, and their home in the coveted Mulholland Estates is now for sale. The 11,000-square-foot mansion, which has 7 bedrooms and 8 baths, is listed for $10.995 million by celebrity listing agent Jade Mills.
Lovingly designed by Hudson, no detail was overlooked, from faux-alligator wallpaper and velvet drapes to the separation of public, private and entertaining spaces.
“The finishes and decor are great — it’s amazing,” says Mills. “But the house is enormous for just Perla and the boys.”
Slash recorded his three most recent solo albums in the on-site recording studio. It must have been tough to stay focused, given all the entertainment available just outside the studio door. A fully equipped nightclub, whose sound system is rumored to be better than most night spots, boasts a photo booth and dance pole.
Looking at the home by the numbers, it’s clear there is no such thing as too much. It features 3 full bars, a theater that seats 12 (plus more on bean bag chairs), an enormous bathtub custom-designed to fit two or more, several drool-worthy closets, and 7 tankless water heaters — so filling that tub will never be a problem.
The fun continues outside, with a 36-foot skate ramp, organic vegetable garden, pool, spa and outdoor living/dining room with a grill, television and built-in sound system.
“One of the best things about this property is that it’s in a very strict gated community,” notes Mills. “It’s great for people who are very private — and celebrities.”
Hudson echoes this sentiment about the sought-after neighborhood. “My neighbors are all lovely, and I’m on the board of directors for our community,” she explains. She’ll be looking for a smaller house, but plans to stay local.
“I only hope the buyers can have as many beautiful memories as we have had here,” she says.
And perhaps they’ll hear the echoes of Slash’s world-renowned guitar work. Oh, wait — the recording studio is fully soundproofed.
