Two Former Donald Trump Homes Hit the Market

Here’s an interesting study in before and after — although technically, both these homes fall into the “after” side of Donald Trump’s chronology.

shutterstock_196597034The presidential hopeful spent his early childhood in this first home, located in the Jamaica Estates section of Queens in New York City. Now on the market for $1.55 million, it was built by Trump’s father, a local real estate developer and landlord, according to listing agent Howard Kaminowitz of Laffey Fine Homes.

"We hope to sell before the election," he said. “The house is a bargain for a large family.”

Gracious though it is, the 2,000-square-foot home has no sweeping marble entrances or gold-plated fixtures. It’s a 5-bedroom, 4.5-bath family home with hardwood floors and a fireplace in the living room.

Decades later, Trump bought a much glitzier home in the posh 90210 area code. The Los Angeles Times reports that he flipped it at a loss.

The Beverly Hills mansion is huge at nearly 15,000 square feet, with 11 bedrooms and 12 baths. The marble foyer boasts a grand staircase and is topped by an elaborate chandelier. Listed at $29.995 million, it has all the luxury touches you’d expect: an elevator, a Carrara marble patio, and bathrooms with Azul Bahia granite from Brazil and Thassos marble from Greece.

The outdoor amenities are also legion, from a pool with a spa and fountains that’s surrounded by an enormous space for entertaining, to the Carrara marble patio and regulation-size basketball/tennis court.

And a bonus: Trump still owns the house next door, the Times reports.

The listing agents are Paul Margolis and Yvette Pozzato of Compass.
