Decades ago, a homeowner in Bellingham, WA found a way to make his grandson feel special: He built an 18th-century-style British Royal Navy ship around his bedroom.
“The builder was a logger back in the day, and he built it for his grandson, Rob,” said Josh Shiflett, the RE/MAX Whatcom County listing agent for the home, which is on the market for $425,000.
The words “MASTER ROB” appear above the ornate windows on the ship’s exterior. The room was designed as a partial replica of Captain Cook’s HMS Endeavour, according to Curbed.com.
Inside, the bedroom looks like it could have belonged to Captain Cook himself.
The 4,101-square-foot home was built in 1931 and has 4 bedrooms and 2.75 baths. The rest of the home features giant windows, a grotto/bar area, an upstairs ballroom and a detached guest suite.
